As we head into gift giving season, I encourage you to think beyond the storefront, and consider making a few gifts from the heart. There is nothing like receiving a little something that you know has been handcrafted with you in mind. While I enjoy being crafty with materials, I must admit that this is not where my strength lies. Perhaps this resonates with you as well? If that is the case, keep reading for a few homemade gift ideas from your kitchen.
• A batch of freshly made muffins
• Jar of Granola
• Jar of cranberry sauce or jam
• Homemade salsa
• Taco seasoning
This taco seasoning recipe hits the mark every time. It tastes better than store bought and it is made with ingredients you easily recognize and likely already have in your kitchen.
1 tbsp chili powder
¼ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp dried oregano
½ tsp paprika
1½ tsp cumin
½ tsp sea salt
Use 1 tbsp of seasoning for every 1 pound of ground meat, lentils or tofu. Once seasoning has been added, combine ¼ cup water to the frying pan to help the seasoning get mixed in evenly.
Layer in tiny glass jars. Tie with a pretty ribbon making sure to include an ingredient list as well as instructions for use.
Merry gift giving!
