It is at this time of the year that we often reflect on how we should improve ourselves. We decide that we need to re-invent ourselves because the old you just isn’t working. Here’s the thing though, you are already pretty great. Look how far you’ve come, the things you’ve learned along the way, and most important of all, the people who you matter most to. The beginning of the new year is a time to celebrate who we are. It can also be a time to reflect & set goals for ourselves, but only when they are done from a place of love and respect for ourselves. Try these ideas for a great start to your new year.


1. Be thankful. Express gratitude every day whether it is around the dinner table, during prayer or in a journal. Complaining is easy, an attitude of gratitude is a much better lens to view the world from.
2. Be kind to yourself. We often extend kindness to others and forget ourselves in the process. When you make your to-do list take a look at it and ask yourself if you would ask your friends to tackle it. If the answer is no, start editing.
3. Begin your day with a glass of water. Your body has worked hard all night, processing food and making waste. Help flush it all out a bit by giving your body a glass of fresh water first thing in the morning – before any caffeine!
4. Exercise is fun! If you aren’t having fun, you are doing it wrong. Keep looking for the right fit.
5. Eat real food! Your body will thank you!
