My CleanseI love May! The trees are getting ready to explode with leaves. My daffodils are on the cusp of opening and the baby calves are prancing in the field behind my home without a care in the world.

I’m on working on week 2 of my cleanse. While there are some foods I have missed, I’ve been enjoying less bloating, less headaches and a greater appreciation for simple foods. When you take away creamy dips with veggies, shredded cheese to top a salad and toast to go with eggs, you begin to have a greater appreciation for the real flavours found in food. I’ve noticed how much sugar was beginning to creep into my everyday diet. Sweets and treats were becoming a little too common place. If you have been a follower of my blog for a little while, you’ll remember that as a family, my husband and boys did a month of no treats or sweets after supper. While this was a great experience for the family, it didn’t challenge me to skip the honey in my tea or the maple syrup in my oatmeal. If I’m being honest here too, if I really wanted something sweet, I just made sure I ate it before supper! This cleanse has been just what I needed to get me back on track again.

Even though I am a nutritionist who is aware of what foods serve me best, I still need to hit the reset button every once in awhile.
